If you are just sewing denim which is lightweight then your regular sewing machine with the right needles, thread and technique will do a great job. But if you will be sewing denim regularly or sewing heavy denim, then consider purchasing a heavy-duty sewing machine with a strong interior frame and more powerful motor.
Are jeans hard to sew?

Should you wash denim before sewing?
As with all fabrics, I always suggest pre-washing and shrinking your denim before you start to sew. This is the best practice to remove chemical sizing, soften the denim, and ensure your jeans won’t shrink on you down the road. Wash your denim on the cold cycle with a cup of white vinegar to help preserve the dye.
