Second, anyone can hand stitch. Sewing a pillowcase with a needle and thread is just like making one with a sewing machine, except you’ll obviously be sewing by and and it will take a few minutes longer. Don’t let the project intimidate you (and don’t expect perfection!).
Can you embroider a pillow?
Cut off a long piece of embroidery thread in your first color and thread it through your needle. Then tie a knot at one end. Begin stitching from the back side of the pillow fabric, making sure to put your hand inside the pillowcase so that you don’t accidentally stitch the pillow closed!
How much bigger should a pillowcase be than the pillow?
Opt for a pillowcase measuring 1/2 to 1 inch longer than the pillow length and 2 1/2 to 4 inches wider than the pillow width, if you’re buying a ready-made pillowcase.
Can you hand sew everything?
Yes, it’s certainly possible and would probably take less time than a quilt, especially if you choose a pattern without a lot of seams. I’ve done a lot of complicated clothes sewing and although I use a machine (and serger) sewing by hand isn’t impossible.
